Yeah, But That's What Bears Do
I saw this article, Fed-Up Germany Kills Its Only Wild Bear, in my quaint and amusing local paper today.
"Bavarian authorities said they regretted the outcome but blamed Bruno [das bear] for forcing their hand. They said the bear had failed to show enough fear or respect for humans and was repeatedly wandering into Alpine villages in search of food."
Yeah, but that's what bears do.
As Jeff Cooper says, bears are a magnificent adornment to the wilderness and should be welcomed. However, they're not cute and cuddly little toys. They roam around in search of food, and they're big enough to get what they want.
Yet more evidence that old Europe has lost the bubble.
